There is a certain rhythm that comes from the forging process -
hammering, quenching, and cooling, heating, hammering and cooling
again - like the seasons, like the cycle of life itself, that
begets not only a finely honed product, but also a lively essence
that comes with a piece of hand-forged metalwork.
Much
of my work incorporates forms of plant life and the leaf
is one of the basic components. Below left shows the
progression
of making the leaves used in a recent balcony
commission.
