Two of the
architectural elements - the chandeliers and wall
sconces interested Jeff very much. |
| Because of the
short deadline and the size of the project, Jeff is
collaborating with Frank Hedgecock, shown here (the guy
whose shirt matches the chandelier) working with the
architects on an early prototype. Frank is
the resident artist-blacksmith at Tamarack. |

The design
elements of the chandeliers were as equally important as
technical aspects of the lighting. For this
reason, a maquette was made for the presentation to the
selection committee at Tamarack and a set of photographs
made. |
| With approval
received from Tamarack, Jeff and Frank are now creating
one full-sized, functional chandelier and one wall
sconce. The project will require 15 chandeliers
and 20 sconces. |
| The full-size
chandelier that Jeff and Frank are building here is
54" in diameter and will hold six pieces of
semi-translucent mica. The chandeliers will hang
14 feet from the floor with a hand-forged vine
entwining the pendant. |

The other purpose of the visit
was to determine the best size for the chandelier in
its different locations throughout the conference
center. Here they are hanging it in the
pre-function area outside the meeting rooms. To

Architect Doug Bastian discusses the chandelier with
Cheryl Hartley of Tamarack. The verdict?
Size and luminance is just right. |
