The landing consists of heavy gauge box tubing that will attach       to  the wall on three sides.  The copper patina applied to the       steel is heat-treated to create the subtle blend of coloration.

Wrapped to protect the finish, the landing heads to the site.

Once on-site, the contractor's   crew mounts it in place.

Back at the forge, Matt uses the plasma cutter to cutout the panels for the stairway.

Contemplation is the key to      good design. The chalked       layout of the "strata" will rest         for a  time before forging metal      to metal.

Early in the finishing process, we invited the client to the shop to review the results.  Client involvement is an important ingredient in any successful commission.

We needed some extra muscle (i.e.. young guys) to get the       railing out of the shop and into the van for the trip to the job.

Back at the forge, work begins on the lower staircase.  The additional challenge here is that the bottom   section is curved but being able to work on it at the forge makes the job easier.

Using clamps, heat and muscle the bottom section comes to life.

Tweaking the curved, bottom carriage back at the shopwith much heat, muscle & 16' twisting wrench.
